Qatar are hiring locals to pretend to be fans and build the atmosphere up for the Fifa World Cup 2022 .Thousands of supporters, mostly from India and South Asian countries, marched in Doha recently.

The presence of these supporters raised rumours that they were paid to wear the shirts of countries like as Argentina, Brazil, and England in order to promote the fifa world cup 2022.

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, World Cup organisers defended Indian fans in Qatar.

Many Indian fans from Qatar were the accusations of being labelled ‘fake’ for wearing the shirts of football’s form different nations and pretend that they are very passionate about the tournament. A series of footage has been released by the local Tiktok channel Qatari Living, of supporters arriving in Doha ahead of the World Cup. However, this has been met with criticism, with the fans being accused as paid actors and migrants dressed as fans.

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 organizing committee in Qatar has published a brief statement in support of the fans’ contributions.

According to the statement “Numerous journalists and social media commenters have questioned if they are ‘real’ fans,” .

“We totally reject these statements, which are both disappointing and unexpected,” the statement said, adding that “Qatar, like the rest of the world, is made up of a huge variety of football fans, many of them enjoy emotional attachments with various zones nations.”

More than 750,000 Indians and 400,000 Bangladeshis make up Qatar’s 2.9 million population. These supporters purchased a large number of tickets for the FIFA World Cup 2022, which begins on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

Qatar which is the first Middle Eastern nation to host the world tournament has predicted that more than one million fans will visit the Gulf state during the 29 day of tournament.
